Before you buy a puppy

Dogs live on average for 10+ years and can be expensive. Regular costs include:

  • food bills
  • routine vet fees, including vaccinations, neutering, and de-worming
  • kennelling costs when you go away
  • pet insurance or vet bills if your dog becomes ill

Think about the right kind of dog that suits your lifestyle – how much time do you have to exercise, train and socialise a new puppy? They need lots of time or you could end up with a dog that barks excessively, is destructive or could even become aggressive.
