The aims of the programme

The Integrated Settlement gives our partners and us greater control and choice over what we can spend devolved funding on.
This helps us to deliver more impact for the people of Birmingham because we will be able to tailor our programmes more closely to the needs of local people, businesses and the city.
We received a single pot of funding rather than fragmented, standalone pots of funding. This will allow us to address complex challenges and opportunities that require a multi-pronged approach - like improving the economy or making progress towards reaching net zero emissions.
This new method of allocating funding allows us to plan for the financial year and address longer-term opportunities and challenges.
The Integrated Settlement is a central pillar of the government’s agenda and provides funding for local investment. The fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK by investing in communities and places, supporting local businesses, people and skills.
The objectives are to:
- boost productivity, pay, jobs and living standards by growing the private sector, especially in places where they are lagging
- spread opportunities and improve public services, especially in places where they are weakest
- restore a sense of community, local pride and belonging, especially in places where they have been lost
- empower local leaders and communities, especially in places lacking local agency
