Hillstone primary school

Many schools experience traffic related issues at the start and end of the school day. Car Free School Streets aims to tackle congestion, poor air quality and road safety concerns, by restricting motor traffic for a short period of time at pick up and drop off times.

From 28 September 2020 the following restrictions will be in place:
Where

Hillstone Road (from Freasley Road to Nearmore Road)

When

Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 8:45am and 3pm to 3:30pm

During these times, most vehicles will not be able to drive into the road(s) covered by this restriction. Signage will be in place at the entrance(s) to the restricted zone.

As a local resident you will be able to apply for a permit to access your property. There will be some exemptions that will permit traffic to use these roads at these times, including blue badge holders and emergency services.

Anyone else driving in the restricted zone at these times without a valid permit or exemption can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice charge of £50.

Parents/carers travelling from further away will be asked to park a short distance away from the school and walk the last part of their journey.

This change will be made using an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) which can stay in place for a maximum of 18 months. During this time, we will monitor and assess the effect of this change before deciding whether it should be made permanent. As part of this, we will be inviting feedback on the scheme from local residents.

Thank you for helping to make our School Streets cleaner, greener, safer and a more pleasant environment for everyone.
