In 2020, following a lengthy and complex competitive public procurement process Birmingham City Council formally appointed Lendlease Smithfield Development LLP as its Joint Venture Partner to deliver the Birmingham Smithfield Masterplan, due to their extensive experience, delivery capacity, shared vision and meeting key delivery requirements that included the ‘Big Moves’ which underpin the Council’s vision for transforming the area and unlocking the growth, and the long-term economic and social prosperity of the city .
