A catastrophic fire destroyed Birmingham Reference Library in 1879. One of the few items to survive was the Register of the Guild of St. Anne of Knowle. It is a handwritten list of tradesmen, beautifully illuminated with coloured ink and gold leaf. It became item number 1 in the new Library’s stock books.
