The Railway (site of)

The railway site of curzon st photograph

Well known in local band circles, The Railway pub was opposite the site of the old Curzon Street Station.

It hosted many rock and indie bands through the years. Steve Gibbons Band, Cryer, Magnum, Trevor Burton, Jameson Raid all played there.

It was, along with The Mercat Cross and The Barrel Organ, part of the local pub circuit and had a smallish stage area and was often packed with people. It changed its name towards the end of its life to The Old Railway.

It was demolished in 2007 as part of redevelopment plans and the former site is part of the expanding Millenium Point Birmingham City University campus.
