Aston Villa Leisure Centre ticket

Aston villa leisure centre deacon blue ticket

8 Aston Hall Road, Aston, Birmingham, B6 7LB.

This ticket for 1980s/1990s chart act Deacon Blue is for a concert at the Aston based venue. It was basically a sports hall which was turned into a venue for chart bands in the early to mid-1990s.

As it was a sports hall, the audience often stood up. Also the sound was usually quite bad as it echoed off the walls. Stars like The Manic Street Preachers, Crowded House, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, Pulp, Deacon Blue, The Waterboys and Skunk Anansie played here. Concerts stopped around the late 1990s, but it continued as a sports hall and community venue.

It became Aston Events Centre and then Aston Arena, but in 2012 plans were being made to demolish it to make way for a manufacturing park in the Aston area.
