Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath

Hare and hounds in kings heath photograph

106 High Street, King's Heath, Birmingham, B14 7JZ.

Probably the best known and popular out of city centre live music venue. Its rise coincided with the demise of Moseley’s Jug of Ale as an alternative student type venue. It hosts local and national acts in several rooms. The Hare and Hounds also lays claim to being the host venue of UB40's first ever concert in 1979.

The pub itself, dating from 1907, has Art Nouveaux features and is Grade 2 listed. For more information, visit the venue's website.

This photographs also shows what was the Ritz Ballroom on its far left. A popular club in the 1960s which hosted many bands including The Beatles.
