1. Provider Feedback Form Following a Quality Monitoring Visit (information for all providers)
As part of Commissioning’s ongoing commitment to improve our Quality Monitoring Process we will be sending all providers a short questionnaire to complete following a Quality Monitoring Visit.
Commissioners would be grateful if you would complete the questionnaires and submit using the button incorporated in the form.
We will use this valuable feedback to ensure ongoing development of the team and the Quality Monitoring process.
2. REMINDER Please ensure your current insurance documents are uploaded to the CareMatch Portal (information for all Birmingham City Council contracted providers)
It is an important part of your contractual obligations to Birmingham City Council, and a legal requirement, to ensure you have valid insurance at all times. It is important that when you renew your insurance documents you remember to upload a copy to the CareMatch Portal following the instructions in Section 8.8 of the Care Match Portal User Guide;

Reminder alerts are sent from CareMatch Portal to inform you when your insurance documents were coming up to their expiry date and when they had expired to assist you to remain compliant with your contractual obligations around insurance. To ensure you are receiving these alerts, check your email alerts are switched on (see section 4.5 of the User Guide for how you can check and change user settings).
No evidence of current insurance cover on the CareMatch Portal at the levels required by your contract will be treated as a breach of contract until evidence of cover is provided.
Providers are finding the cost of insurance has risen as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and as such it is important you allow enough time for finding an alternative insurance provider, if needed, before your current insurance expires. Contact your Care Association to see what support and advice they can offer. It is important that you inform you area commissioners if you are having difficulty arranging future cover before the expiry of your current insurance.

3. Capacity Tracker Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Updates - Data quality improvements - ASC Home Care Collection Validation (information for all Home Support providers)
To improve data quality in the Capacity Tracker, the Home Care Collection page will be updated with additional validation on Wednesday, 30 October 2024. These changes will be reflected in the Home Care Provider Update page and Home Care Provider Bulk Update Template. If you have previously entered any information that does not meet the validation requirements, you will be prompted to make an update to rectify this.

4. Birmingham and Solihull Community Care Collaborative (CCC) – Connect Newsletter (information for all providers)
The October Connect Newsletter is now available (see link below). Connect is the monthly update on all things about the CCC – the programme of work where health, care, voluntary and community organisations work together to improve citizens health and care. Please take a moment to read the newsletter.
5. Skills for Care - New nursing recruitment and retention resources (information for care homes with nursing)
Skills for Care, in partnership with key stakeholders, has developed a range of new resources to support employers recruit and retain nurses in their workforce. These resources have been designed to share best practices and expertise that explore the introduction and development of nursing roles across different care settings.
The resources cover professional practice from pre-registration right through the nursing career span.
6. UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) MOCHHO: All Our Health e-learning resource for the ASC workforce (information for all providers)
The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities’ All Our Health framework is a call to action to all health and care professionals to embed prevention within their day-to-day work. Through educational materials, tools and resources, All Our Health helps professionals make an even greater impact in preventing illness, protecting health, promoting wellbeing and reducing health inequalities.

8. REMINDER Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System (BSol ICS) - Oliver McGown Mandatory Training Tier 2 – various dates October 2024 (information for all Birmingham and Solihull providers)
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disabilities and Autism is for all staff in a CQC registered organisation. Staff must complete Part 1 (The e-Learning) followed by Part 2 (as per the requirements of their job role). Part 2 of the training is divided into Tier 1 (one-hour online learning) or Tier 2 (one day’s face to face training)
Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System are running Oliver McGown Mandatory Training for Tier 2 with sessions at the venues below. They are running 6-8 sessions a day of face-to-face training and have several empty spaces.
