After sunset on Wednesday, 3 December, the exterior façade of the Library of Birmingham will be lit up purple to mark Disability History Month.

UK Disability History Month 2025 is a period of events and discussions running from November 20 to December 20, 2025.

The theme for the year is "Disability, Life and Death," which explores the value of disabled lives, historical and current threats to disabled people's rights, and the impact of legislation like assisted suicide proposals. Events aim to raise awareness and encourage reflection on societal attitudes, the social model of disability, and ongoing barriers to equality.
