Job Opportunities at Grand Central - a ‘gateway’ to jobs and training for jobseekers
There is expected to be over 1,000 new job opportunities at Grand Central Birmingham and wider City Centre employers, predominately in retail, hospitality and customer service.
If you are a DWP client who is not on a Work Programme then contact your Work Coach at the Job Centre
If you are part of the Work Programme or are unemployed but not receiving a welfare benefit then you will need to register your interest with the National Careers Service by ringing 0121 296 5550. Once registered, you will receive a ‘skills health check’, careers advice and other support including referral to additional training to help move towards employment. The training on offer will give you a qualification in retail, hospitality and customer service before being invited for interviews with a wide range of employers.

Work Grand Central – The Birmingham Growth Alliance Partnership
The Birmingham Growth Alliance Partnership (BGAP) has been established to capitalise on job opportunities that will be created through Grand Central Birmingham and the wider City Centre to ensure that the people of Birmingham have improved chances to access to the large number of retail, hospitality and customer service vacancies being created in 2015.
Partners are: John Lewis, Network Rail, Retail Birmingham, Department for Work and Pensions, Skills Funding Agency, National Apprenticeship Service, National Careers Service, Birmingham City Council and Solihull Council.
The Jobs and Skills Charter below demonstrates the commitment of partners to jointly maximise access for Birmingham residents, particularly those from priority groups to all jobs, skills and training opportunities that flow from the development.

Information for Providers
BGAP is co-ordinating a multi-agency approach, actively encouraging local training and community based organisations to engage with and prepare jobseekers for roles at Grand Central and in the wider retail, hospitality and customer service sectors in Birmingham.
Packages of shorter and extended in-training support matched to individual needs will be available and we are keen to hear from any providers who can offer jobseekers opportunities and/or are willing to promote Work Grand Central. Email us firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 0121 464 7731.
If you have candidates that are interested in working at Grand Central, then please register them with the National Careers Service so they can be supported through the Grand Central recruitment pathways.
