Birmingham City Council

Birmingham Property Services

Birmingham Property Services (BPS) is the largest In-House Local Authority Property Consultancy.

BPS provides an integrated professional property service to the city council, with a responsibility to manage and dispose of city-owned commercial land and property, including shops, offices, industrial units, warehouses, business parks and development sites.

Key Areas

The work of BPS is based around three key areas:

  • Investment Property Management

Dealing with the City Council's commercial portfolio, serving the needs of upwards of 6000 business tenants with a high concentration of small and start up businesses.
  • Acquisitions and Valuations

Providing specialist services to all departments across the City Council. Dealing with property purchases, compensation, home loss payments, right to buy valuations and compulsory purchase.
  • Development and Regeneration

As a major land owner in the city, the Council is involved in development projects. This includes most of the key projects in the City Centre - historically, the Council has used its freehold ownership to shape development of the retail and office core, with Masshouse, new Bull Ring, Martineau Galleries and Attwood Green being the latest in a long line of projects.
