Appeal conditions
Only use this form for children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014, appealing for a place in Year 7 in September 2025.
You can only appeal for one school per form. To appeal for more than one school, you must complete additional forms.
You can only appeal for a school that you named as a preference on your application and at which you have been refused a place.
You must complete all sections of the form.
Change of preferences
If you appeal for school(s) where you did not make an application and therefore your child has not been refused admission at, your appeal will not be processed.
Submit a late change of preferences online, and allow time for this to be processed before submitting your appeal. To check the progress of your late application, phone us on 0121 303 1888.
Birmingham schools
Some appeals are managed by the council, others are managed by the schools themselves.
This form is only to appeal for schools managed by the council. If the school you wish to appeal for is not on this list, contact the school directly for details of their appeals arrangements.
Change in circumstances
You cannot appeal for the same school in the same academic year unless there has been a material and significant change in your circumstances since your last appeal hearing, such as change of address or a sibling being admitted to the school.
Education, Health and Care Plan
If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) you must contact Birmingham's Local Offer team.
Appeal closing date
The closing date for appeals is 31 March 2025. Appeals received after this date may not be heard by the start of school in September.
The appeals process
All appeals take place via video link using Microsoft Teams, accessible from a mobile telephone, tablet, laptop or any device that can access the internet via an internet browser.
If you need an interpreter, you can reply to the email to request this, including the language required. This service is free of charge.
Expectations
Consider the likelihood of your appeal being successful.
Appeals are generally only successful if you or your child have exceptional reasons for needing admission to a particular school.
