Sutton Coldfield Library improvement work set to start next month

Published: Friday, 29th December 2017

Work to improve Sutton Coldfield Library is due to start on January 15 in response to public demand for a service to be retained locally.

The final day of opening in its current form will be Saturday, January 13 – and once complete the programme of work, which is expected to take 12 weeks, will provide users with a library as well as a café and play area for pre-school children.

As well as the arrival of a new play café, the work will also include the creation of a large archives store in the Local History area of the library.

In recognition of the public support for the Sutton Coldfield library service, the council has worked in partnership with FOLIO Sutton Coldfield (the library's Friends group), Little Green Bookworm CIC and Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council to bring the plans to reality.

During the closure for the improvements, users can use any of the city’s other libraries to borrow and return items.
