Pupils from Mayfield School enjoyed free rides on the Victorian carousel at the Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market earlier today (13 December 2017).

The lucky youngsters are among hundreds of children from special schools across Birmingham enjoying free carousel rides in Victoria Square, courtesy of Bob Wilson’s Funfairs.

Teacher Sarah Thornton, who brought her class from Mayfield School in Handsworth to visit the festive market, said: “Our pupils make us proud with their achievements every day, so it’s lovely for them to have this opportunity to enjoy the Frankfurt Christmas Market – it’s a real treat for them all.”

This year the carousel in Victoria Square is complemented by a big wheel, ice rink and other attractions at Eastside Green, near Millennium Point.

The Frankfurt Christmas Market is open every day from 10am to 9pm, until (and including) Sunday 24 December.

The ice rink and big wheel will both continue until Sunday, 7 January 2017, from 10am to 9pm. Ice rink sessions last an hour and are on the hour, with tickets available in advance.
