#BrumBudget18: have your say

The council has already saved more than £642 million since 2010 but now needs to find further savings of £54 million for 2018/19. However, most of this has already been consulted on and are ongoing savings, so this specific consultation covers £14 million.

For the next five weeks (until 15 January 2018), the council will be consulting on how it proposes to make these savings and is asking people to give their views via birminghambeheard.org.uk.

Councillor Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council, said: "With Government cuts to our budget of around £650 million since 2010, austerity has taken its toll on the people of Birmingham and in the face of continuing cuts, we face real challenges and difficult decisions.

"We want to work with the people of Birmingham as we make those decisions and we will continue to look at innovative ways of delivering services to better suit the needs of Birmingham residents, while protecting the most vulnerable in our city.

“This is why your views are so important when we make these tough decisions. Last year’s budget was shaped by your feedback, so we now need as many people as possible to have their say and help us deliver a budget which will deliver the savings required while also helping us meet demand for services.”
