Statement on New York attack

The following is a statement from Cllr Anne Underwood, Lord Mayor of Birmingham, after yesterday's terror attack in New York City.

“I am once again deeply saddened by another appalling terrorist attack on innocent people; this time in New York City. On behalf of the people of Birmingham I send sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by this atrocity, including the emergency services responding.”

Flags will be lowered to half-mast at the Council House today as a mark of respect.
