The £4.7 million scheme in Kings Norton has seen Westleigh construct a range of high quality new one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes, available to let from Viridian Housing. Construction work on the development started in November last year with financial support from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The conclusion of the works on Longfellow Road marks Westleigh’s first completed affordable housing development in Birmingham, after it opened its West Midlands office in late 2014.

Gino Siani, Head of New Business in the West Midlands, commented:

“We are delighted that our working partnership with Birmingham City Council and Viridian Housing has allowed us to bring this project to fruition. These homes will go some way towards meeting the increasing demand for affordable lettings in the area.

“The completion of our first project in Birmingham is a source of great pride for us. Westleigh is fully committed to delivering high quality affordable housing in the West Midlands and there are a number of new developments in the pipeline.”

Birmingham City Council’s cabinet member for Housing and Homes, Cllr Peter Griffiths, said: “We are committed to increasing the supply of affordable housing in Birmingham.  Thanks to our partnership with Westleigh and Viridian Housing we have delivered another 44 brand new affordable, quality homes for local people and we look forward to working with them on future projects.”

Chris Miller, Director of Development at Viridian, added:

“Viridian is dedicated to building strong partnerships; we worked closely with the council and Westleigh to ensure the new homes in Longfellow Road were affordable for residents and completed to a high quality.

“There has been a high level of interest in the development and we are delighted that all the properties are now fully occupied.

“Viridian remains committed to providing a good quality of life for our residents, and we will continue to build communities through the development of new homes.”
