Library of Birmingham venue hire
The Library of Birmingham offers a range of spaces for meetings, events and ceremonies. Each space can be adapted to suit different layouts and group sizes.
Meeting room suite
Our meeting room suite on level 1 includes 3 flexible, high-spec rooms. The largest room can accommodate up to 70 people in a theatre-style layout.
All rooms:
- have natural daylight and views over Centenary Square
- include a digital screen and projector
- have Wifi access
The suite also has dedicated facilities to support the running of your event.
Studio Theatre
The Studio Theatre is a flexible space for conferences, seminars, corporate events and briefings.
It can be configured for:
- up to 292 people in a theatre-style layout
- up to 200 people in a cabaret layout
- use as an empty space for bespoke setups
A range of integrated AV options is available with technical support.
Feature spaces
We offer a selection of unique spaces across the library.
Book Rotunda
This book-lined space in the centre of the library provides a striking setting for events.
It is suitable for:
- gala dinners
- drinks receptions for up to 200 people
Shakespeare Memorial Room
This historic room, created for the city's Victorian library by John Henry Chamberlain in 1882, has been restored by local craftsmen.
Located at the top of the library, it is suitable for:
- wedding or civil ceremonies for up to 40 people
- dining for up to 20 people
- drinks receptions for up to 45 people
Hiring this room includes exclusive access to the adjoining Skyline Viewpoint, which offers panoramic views across the city.
Discovery Terrace
This outdoor garden terrace on level 3 overlooks Centenary Square.
It is suitable for:
- summer drinks receptions
- celebrations
- networking events
Highlight and the Gallery
This space on level 3 sits next to the exhibition gallery.
It is suitable for drinks receptions for up to 100 people.
You can also include private viewing of exhibitions from the library's archive, heritage and photography collections.
Wedding and civil ceremonies
The Library of Birmingham is licensed to hold weddings and civil ceremonies.
The Shakespeare Memorial Room provides a city centre setting for smaller, more intimate ceremonies.
Licensing
The library is licensed for the consumption of alcohol at private events.
Parking
There are many public car parks nearby. The library does not have on-site parking.
Wifi
Free Wifi is available throughout the building. A premium paid service is also available.
Projectors and equipment
All meeting rooms include AV equipment such as projectors, which is included in the hire cost.
Rooms also include:
- a flipchart
- paper and pens
A portable PA system is available on request.
