Meet the Christian and Sikh DEP

Faith Action are an organisation with a national reach and a longstanding presence in Birmingham.

Through research, campaigns, and collaborative projects, they work in partnership with a network of over 2000 faith-based and community organisations nationally. This is to unlock the potential of faith to bring about a healthier, more just society, where more people belong.

For 10 years they have coordinated the delivery of Creative English and ESOL and health literacy programmes across Birmingham. They have also supported the activity of the Faith Covenant - which Birmingham City Council were the first local authority to sign.

Through the Deep Engagement Partner programme, they will be collaborating with local Faith Champions to combine their local knowledge, connections, and expertise with Faith Action's own experiences in:

  • health inequalities
  • cross-sector collaboration
  • grassroots community training and empowerment

This is to improve understanding and take practical steps to improve the health outcomes of Christian and Sikh communities across the city in areas such as:

  • cardiovascular health
  • diabetes
  • maternity health
  • physical activity
  • health literacy
  • vaccine uptake
  • improving access to primary care.
