Why we need a State of the City report

Councillor John Cotton, Leader of Birmingham City Council and Chair of Shaping Birmingham’s Future Together said:

The State of the City 2025 is a high-level overview of our city in 2025.

The report is the culmination of a huge amount of work with partners across the city over the last 12 months and embodies a new collaborative 'Team Birmingham' approach to addressing the opportunities and challenges facing our citizens.

It is an honest assessment of the opportunities and challenges facing the city, through the lens of our five strategic missions set out in the Birmingham City Vision: Growth and Prosperity, Knowledge and Opportunity, Safety and Sustainability, Health, Equity and Inclusion, and Connected Birmingham.

We are committed to collaborating with partners across Birmingham to develop a report each year as new data emerges.

Together, we can shape a fairer, brighter future.
