Health visiting service

Health visitors are nurses or midwives who work with families. They help you to make sure your child is living a healthy lifestyle and advise you on how to keep the child safe from illness up until they are 5 years old.

There are 5 scheduled visits over the first 5 years of your child's life:

• while you are pregnant
• shortly after you have given birth
• when your baby is 6 weeks old
• when your baby is 1 year old
• when your baby is 2 years old
