How we monitor the performance of our adult social care services

We monitor how well our adult social care services are performing in several ways:

  1. Against targets that we set ourselves, including those in:
    1. Council Plan
  2. Against national standards set by others, including:
    1. The Department of Health’s Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework (ASCOF)
    2. Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspections
    3. The sector led improvement work of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS)
  3. Against local standards set by others, including:
    1. Birmingham’s Health and Wellbeing Board
    2. The Birmingham Safeguarding Adults Board, which monitors how well we’re protecting vulnerable adults thought to be at risk of abuse, neglect and discrimination.
    3. Healthwatch Birmingham
    4. Health and Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee
    5. The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  4. Through feedback from Birmingham’s citizens, service users and carers, including:
    1. Comments, complaints and feedback to the Council
    2. People for Public Services Forum
