Businesses will play a vital role in making Birmingham Net Zero by 2030. You can make your business more sustainable using the resources below.

Networks and Support

Guidance toolkit on building retrofit - this toolkit has been created to make Net Zero carbon or low carbon retrofit more accessible. It is aimed at building professionals including developers, contractors, architects, engineers, planning officers and other housing professionals.

Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) Growth Hub - provide free one-to-one sustainability advice for SMEs as well as free decarbonisation plans. Additionally, they support businesses trying to access government energy efficiency programmes and funding and administer their own Green Growth Grant funding for businesses.

West Midlands Net Zero Business Pledge - a net zero business pledge scheme run by the West Midlands Combined Authority which provides free advice for businesses on how to reduce their emissions, save costs, and prepare for the impacts of climate change.

Sustainability West Midlands - a not-for-profit organisation which works with private, public, and third sector partners across the West Midlands. Sustainability West Midlands organises networks which share case studies and good practice, provides support for net zero ambitions, shares independent research and advice, and helps businesses develop and improve sustainability action plans.

West Midlands Green Business Club Network - a list of local business networks in different regions in the West Midlands which discuss sustainable business practises and share ideas and resources.

Grants and Funding

Innovate UK KTN - lists local, national, and global funding grants and initiatives for industry research and development. Their regular newsletter provides information on upcoming grants which can often have short windows of application.

Birmingham City Council Net Zero Grant Programme - a council grant for businesses in the West Midlands to help them reduce their environmental impact and decrease the rising energy costs companies are experiencing.
