Active travel advice

Active travel can be an affordable, healthy, and fun way to travel around Birmingham without producing carbon emissions.

Cycle to Work Scheme - a national scheme which could save you 23-44% off when purchasing a bike or cycling equipment, up to the value of £3000. Guidance on how the scheme works is available through the link but check with your employer to see if they are participating.

Birmingham City Council Cycling Resources - resources on cycling in Birmingham such as cycle routes, cycling clubs, lessons to learn how to ride, and bike hire.

Car Sharing Schemes - resources on car sharing schemes in Birmingham which enable members to share cars, and only pay when they are using them. Car share schemes provide an environmentally friendly, socially just, community-based alternative to car ownership which helps to reduce the number of car journeys made on our roads, in turn reducing congestion and pollution and helping to tackle climate change.

Electric Vehicle Charge Point Renting Schemes - many websites allow residents to ‘rent out’ use of the charge point and find charging points in the city. We recommend searching “EV charge points map” on a search engine to find out more.
