Community Health Profiles Research Evaluation

Background

London School of Economics (LSE) were commissioned in July 2023 to carry out an evaluation of the Community Health Profiles (CHP) programme developed by Birmingham Public Health.

Aims

The independent evaluation aimed to:

  • assess how effectively the profiles are achieving their intended objectives
  • explore how the profiles are being shared and used across the city
  • identify where the profiles are being used to inform service development
  • understand patterns of engagement e.g. who is using the profiles, who is not, and the reasons for this
  • provide insights to strengthen future implementation and ensure the profiles remain inclusive and impactful

Methods and Analysis

Over a two-year period, the evaluators conducted a series of interviews and focus group discussions with:

  • those who have and have not used the profile
  • those who wrote the profiles
  • policy and decision makers
  • commissioned engagement partners
  • using thematic analysis to analyse the data collected

Findings

Watch our webinar, co-hosted by LSE, which provides a summary of the key findings from the evaluation.
