Dementia services

One in three people over 65 years will develop dementia.

People with dementia can become apathetic or uninterested in their usual activities, and have problems controlling their emotions. They may also find social situations challenging, lose interest in socialising, and aspects of their personality may change. The dementia services such as dementia cafes, activity groups, carers groups and singing classes are in place to help everyone affected by the condition.

The activities and singing groups are a way to keep those with the condition feeling positive about what they’re going through, to promote a consistent social environment, maintain relationships with others and to keep their mind active. Staying in touch with a community of people in a similar situation to you or your family can help provide a wealth of health benefits.

The dementia services are in place to educate, provide respite, offer fun and positive activities for all and to offer a safe place to talk openly. Most groups are free or ask for a small cost.

Grow and change with the condition, do not let it control your life.
