Barford Estate - Phase 3
Work on this third phase of construction was completed in May 2023.
The works include:
- closing the section of Northbrook Street to motorised vehicles between Dudley Road and Willow Gardens to provide a shared area for pedestrians and cyclists, where people can walk and cycle through, or sit and spend time
- introducing waiting and loading restrictions on the Barford estate particularly around junctions to increase visibility and make it safer for pedestrians crossing
- installing traffic calming measures to slow vehicle speeds through the estate including speed cushions and raised tables (a raised section of roads on each approach to slow vehicles down)
- installing a parallel crossing for pedestrians and cyclists on Barford Road near Emily Gardens to tie-in with the existing east-west footpath/cycle link to the Birmingham Mainline Canal and Summerfield Park
