Closing the road for an event
A street party or a public event
The main differences between a small street party and larger public event are:
- street parties are:
- for residents/neighbours only
- only publicised to local residents
- larger public events can be:
- attended by anyone
- promoted to the wider public, such as in newspapers or social media

Holding a public event
If you wish to hold a public event, you will need to complete the public event enquiry form.

Managing road closures
If roads need to be closed for your event, you must:
- provide a method statement which explains how you will implement and manage the road closure
- engage with a Traffic Management Company if you need help to manage the road closure, diversions, and signage
- make sure road closures are always manned - someone must be available at all times during the closure
- plan for emergency services access during the closure
- signpost clear diversion routes to guide traffic
- notify National Express if public transport is affected by emailing highways@nationalexpress.com
