Telecommunications: Possible health related issues

It is central Government’s responsibility, not that of the Council or Planning and Regeneration, to decide what measures are necessary to protect public health. The Government’s latest advice on telecommunications is available in the National Planning Policy Framework, Paragraph 46 of which states:

“Local Planning Authorities must determine applications on planning grounds. They should not seek to… determine health safeguards, if the proposal meets International Commission guidelines for public exposure. Therefore, where a mobile phone mast installation meets the ICNRP guidelines this Council cannot refuse permission."

More information on mobile phones and health issues can be found on the OFCOM website.
