More choice and control over adult social care services

People who use our adult social care services in Birmingham are asking for more choice and control over:

  • the type of care they get
  • when they get it
  • who provides it
  • how it is managed.

We’ve been listening to you, and by changing the way we support you with your care, we’re able to give you more independence, choice and control in your life. This approach to adult social care is called 'personalisation'.

Self-directed support is part of personalisation, and is a way of providing social care that puts you in control. Self-directed support means you can choose how you want to manage your care, giving you more control over the social care support you can get. In this way, we’re providing a much more personal approach to adult care services.
