Poetry workshop: blitz poems
A creative writing workshop at the Hive where you’ll explore blitz poems and develop confidence in writing structured poetry.
This workshop is for adults aged 16 years and over who have experience writing poetry and want to develop skills in form-based writing.
The session focuses on blitz poems and how structure shapes meaning. With guidance from poet Rick Sanders, you'll read examples and develop your own poem during the workshop.
During the workshop you will:
- explore how blitz poems are structured
- read examples and explore how form affects meaning
- write your own blitz poem with support from the facilitator
- need to arrive 10 minutes early as the Hive closes at 3:30pm
What to bring:
- something to write on
- something to write with
- a willingness to explore poetry
The workshop lasts 2 hours. All other materials will be provided.
If you enjoy poetry, you can return in the evening for Verve Open Door, a free open mic event where you can listen or share your own poems.
