An exhibition exploring the role of art in supporting health and care systems, shown at the Library of Birmingham.

This exhibition:

  • shows how art can help people stay healthy and feel understood
  • brings together 3 years of work by artists, researchers and community groups

The show features an immersive display that feels like a game show about the journey of life. It looks at different stages and the systems that shape them, from early feeding to ageing and dying well.

Visit to see:

  • a creative look at the life course
  • stories from people with different lived experiences
  • artwork that questions how we care for each other
  • research made with communities across Birmingham

Several artists have worked with communities to challenge barriers and speak up for health justice.

The show includes work by Niki Gandy, the artist in residence at HMP Birmingham. Her work explores how prisoners live with limited light and how this affects vitamin D levels and body rhythms.
