Winter concert: Ravel, Strauss and Shostakovich live in Birmingham
Experience sweeping melodies and powerful symphonies with South Birmingham Sinfonia at St Francis Church.
South Birmingham Sinfonia returns for its winter concert with 3 unforgettable works:
- Ravel’s Le tombeau de Couperin - a delicate tribute to friends lost in the First World War
- Strauss’s Horn Concerto No. 1 - written when the composer was just 18 years old
- Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 - dramatic and full of emotion
The orchestra will be led by conductor Sabrina Ko, with soloist Leo French on French horn and James Hamilton as leader.
This concert supports Birmingham Hospices. Families are welcome, but the music is most suitable for children aged 11 and older, as it includes loud and dramatic passages.
