Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration

Join Birmingham’s civic commemoration at the Council House Banqueting Suite to hear survivor stories, music and poetry that reflect on the Holocaust and more recent genocides.

Doors open at 10:30am, with an opportunity to light a candle of remembrance.

The Lord Mayor of Birmingham will lead the commemoration, which will start at 11:00am.

It will include:

  • a candle-lighting ceremony
  • testimony from Mindu Hornick MBE and Nyathesis Kwawang
  • music, poetry and readings

Together, these contributions will reflect on the impact of the Holocaust and more recent genocides.

This year’s theme is “Bridging Generations”, which calls us to honour the past and stand against hatred and discrimination.
