Place funding: play the local authority challenge game
Step into the shoes of a local council and try to win funding for your community in this fun and fast-paced game.
Local councils often face a tough challenge: competing for limited government funding to support their communities. This free event lets you play a fast-paced game that puts you in their shoes.
You’ll work with others to choose a project to fund. Each player will take on the role of a stakeholder and argue for their preferred project.
You’ll need to meet strict criteria, respond to changes and think about the wider needs of the local area.
To take part:
- book a 1-hour time slot
- allow at least 30 minutes to play
- join with at least 2 others or be teamed up
- play as a stakeholder in a local funding bid
This event is part of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Festival of Social Science at the University of Birmingham. The ESRC funds research into social and economic issues that affect people’s lives.
The event will be presented in association with the Campaign for Social Science.
