Eddie Chambers lecture on Donald Locke
Join art historian and curator Eddie Chambers for a lecture in response to Donald Locke’s exhibition, Resistant Forms.
In this talk, Eddie Chambers explores the life and work of artist Donald Locke, and the wider issues facing artists of colour today.
He will:
- discuss key works from Locke’s exhibition, Resistant Forms
- reflect on how artists of colour are often recognised only after their death
- explore how the art world contributes to this pattern
- suggest ways we can support living artists and change the system
This lecture is part of the exhibition Donald Locke: Resistant Forms, organised by Ikon in collaboration with Spike Island in Bristol and Camden Art Centre in London.
It is supported by the Estate of Donald Locke and several arts funders.
