- About the park
-
Ley Hill recreation ground is set in 48 acres of rugged hilly parkland on the south-western edge of Birmingham.
Its history as public land dates back to the 1950s when the Kunzle family (Swiss-born confectioners and philanthropists) donated their house and adjoining lands to the people of Birmingham. For several years, the land was rented or leased to private owners. In 1960 it became a park open to the public.
Nowadays, the site is easily accessible from a number of main roads and offers a series of walkways through open land and wooded areas featuring:
- Oak trees
- Cedar trees
- Sweet Chestnut trees
- Scot’s Pines
It also features a new and well stocked children’s play area and a football pitch and basketball court, which are well used by the local community.
