- 9 offences relating to conditions found at African Natural Produce Wholesalers, Unit 4 Birmingham Wholesale Market, Birmingham B6 7EU on two separate dates. Three offences of failing to comply with Hygiene Improvement Notices requiring the premises be kept clean, an adequate number of hand wash basins which had hot and cold running water, soap and a means of hygienically drying hands to be provided and mandatory information to be inclcuded on the labels of repacked items. Foods in the packing room were open and not protected from contamination. Unsafe food, namely Chalk for human consumption, was placed on the market when it contained Lead and Arsenic at levels that exceeded acceptable limits. The standard of cleaning was insufficient. The Company could not identify the person who supplied the Crayfish, prawns, dried fish, powdered pepper, dried leaf (scent leaf), soup thickener, crayfish powder or the chalk.
