- About the park
-
This 30-acre greenspace is one of nearly 500 parks and green spaces established 75 years ago across the nation as a lasting memory to King George V, who was the first patron of the Fields in Trust organisation.
It is now a versatile recreational area with much of the land used for marked-out football pitches and goalposts.
However, there is also a large open area which can be used for running, jogging or taking the dog for a walk – as well as small, wooded area, which attracts birds and other wildlife.
In 1957, to mark its special role in the community, it was granted Fields in Trust status in perpetuity, meaning it is protected green space and will serve endless generations to come.
