About the park

This park is simply perfect for a pit stop. The 12-acre site has a small lake, large playing fields and a popular children's play area – well stocked with equipment, including climbing frames with great views over the surrounding area.

Nature lovers will appreciate the park’s mature trees, which include redwoods, oaks and weeping willows and colourful flowers. One of the centre pieces of the park is an ancient cedar tree, which is thought to have been planted in the late 1700s.

The area that makes up the park was historically the grounds of The Grove, an 18th-century Georgian house. Among its famous inhabitants were Thomas Attwood, one of Birmingham’s first MPs in the mid-19th century and a renowned electoral reformist. The house was bequeathed to the council in the 1960s and the grounds were re-opened as a park soon after.
