Shree Geeta Bhawan Hindu temple in Handsworth are busy providing free meals to hundreds of people three times a every week. It has also recently launched a weekly programme of workout sessions to help its congregation stay fit and healthy.
Sharan Kalia, a board member of Shree Geeta Bhawan Mandi said: “Everybody is aware of the current cost of living. So, for that purpose, what we try to do is encourage them to come at least a couple of times a week.
“We have a Tuesday evening function, which is where we provide free hot food to them. We also try to facilitate the one on Friday morning and Sunday as well so that at least the older generation has a place to go to and get some help.”
