Hoverlloyd passenger and vehicle ticket for hovercraft.
A hovercraft company that operated between Ramsgate and Calais taking passengers and cars between the two. A typical crossing time was 40 minutes! The company began operations in 1966.
The cost of running and maintenance led to the merger with French company Seaspeed in 1981 to become Hoverspeed. It operated from Dover but channel tunnel competition meant that by 2005 it too had ceased and hovercraft crossings were a thing of the past, the last one being in 2000.
