Union station, DC

Washington dc union station postcard

Washington DC.

Opened in 1907 and based on a classical Roman architecture design. It cost $4million to build. It was re-modelled in the late 1980s at a cost of $160 million and houses restaurants and bus terminals, as well as being operational under Amtrak.

This postcard was sent to noted collector Rev Rokeby in May 1952, who was at Mundford Rectory, Thetford, Norfolk at the time. The sender wrote, "I do hope to be able to get a few photos of trains. Please write and let me know when you are coming over. I am going in service very soon."
