The Barton's Arms

The bartons arms photograph

The Barton's Arms at the crossroads of Newtown High Street and Park Lane photographed by Birmingham City Council Public Works Department in 1982 with the contemporary view from a photograph taken in 2012.

The Barton's Arms dates to 1901 and was designed by Mr. Brassington of James and Lister Lea, and reportedly inspired by nearby Aston Hall. A Grade II* Listed building since 1976, the Barton's Arms was built as a flagship pub for Mitchells and Butlers Brewery.

The glory days of the Barton's Arms saw the likes of Laurel and Hardy, Marie Lloyd, Enrico Caruso and Charlie Chaplin drinking or even lodging at the Barton's Arms when performing at the Aston Hippodrome.
