This image by the satirical cartoonist George Cruikshank, is from a series of illustrations he produced for inclusion in Grimaldi's memoirs. "The Memoirs of Joseph Grimaldi" were edited by the then little-known writer "Boz", later identified as a pseudonym for Charles Dickens.
The image shows Grimaldi in full theatrical costume and at the height of his fame; being pursued by an army of fans, both young and old.
