The Tinside Lido was built in 1935. The pool was a 180 foot semi-circle. It had 3 fountains or cascades for aerating the water. At night the water and cascades were floodlit from below and went through a sequence of three colour changes.

The Lido was designed by S Wibberley, City Engineer and was officially opened on 2 October 1935. During the 1980s it fell into disrepair but was re-developed and finally re-opened on 15 August 2003.
