Busking in Birmingham
Busking is music, dance, street theatre, performance or art offered live in our streets and squares, for the purposes of entertaining, interacting with members of the public, and receiving voluntary contributions.
Busking is welcome on most public land in Birmingham, no licence is required. However your performance should be considerate of those around you.
Please note that there are 2 new Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO) in operation from 15 August 2022 in the City Centre.
These orders prohibit or restrict the use of amplifiers and musical instruments in certain key areas.

You must have a charitable street collection licence if you are performing to collect money for charity.

If you wish to sell CDs or other merchandise whilst busking then you may need street trading consent.
Please note also that child employment regulations in Birmingham prohibit anyone of compulsory school age from busking – whether or not money is collected.
