Get involved in improving council services
The public participation team makes sure citizens' voices and views are included in all council decision‑making and service design. We do this by working with colleagues to provide them with advice and best-practice guidance on how to include citizens in council day‑to‑day activities, and by putting them in contact with citizens and communities so that this can happen in partnership.
We value everyone's individual contributions. We all have different lived experiences, and no one person can represent everyone. Focusing on strengths and working inclusively, the team aims to support the development of public services that meet citizens' needs.
How we do this
- Champion citizen involvement and inclusive engagement at all levels across the council to make sure we put citizens first
- Develop partnerships with citizens and local community organisations to make sure any engagement is representative
- Support citizens in taking part and advocating for the citizens' voice at every opportunity
- Offer advice, guidance, support and hands-on help to colleagues to make sure citizens' insights are captured, considered and taken into account in all decision-making activities
