Castle Vale
In 2020, as the city emerged from the national lockdown, we introduced various measures to make it easier for people to walk and cycle more. This included two 'modal filters' in Castle Vale, on Yatesbury Avenue and Cosford Crescent. This prevents motor vehicles from driving through a section of road but still allows people to walk or cycle through.
These were introduced on a temporary, experimental basis. The time allowed for the experiment has ended.
We remain committed to reducing car trips and encourage people to choose active travel for their short journeys. We decided that modal filters in these locations are not currently the best way to do this, so we have removed them.
